Dioxins in Eggs
Dioxins are among the most poisonous chemicals known to man, yet they have found their way to our dining tables. A study involving 17 countries carried out in 2005 by the International POPs Elimination Network found that chicken eggs in India contained high levels of dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Dioxin levels were found to be 5.5 times higher than the European Union safe limit for eggs, while levels for PCBs were 4.7 times higher than the safe limit.
