Within a health care enterprise, there may be a body of nurses designated as “nursing administration,” or this function may be dispersed throughout the organization and assigned to a number of persons, both nursing and non-nursing. In either situation, if an enterprise offers health care services to the public, there must be an overall understanding of the service being offered, and certain functions of administration relative to that service must be carried out.
