I have been challenging issues of racism and sexism for more than a decade, since I began counseling men who abuse their female partners.1 During that time, I have worked with Black and White men2 in therapy groups and conducted various antiracism and antisexism workshops in the community. My practice has been significantly influenced by Black women writers who see value in addressing issues of racism and sexism at the same time (Hill Collins, 1990, 1998, 2000; hooks, 1984, 1995, 2004; Jordan, 1998a, 1998b; Lorde, 1984; Richie, 2005).
