If you look at the communication trends in Asia and the West today, there seems to be little difference in the way the MSM operates. On one hand, in Asia, particularly in India, excessive commercialization of the news media beginning around the mid-1990s has introduced what Daya Thussu (2007b) calls the ‘Murdochization of the Media’ that has its roots in the rise of infotainment-driven television news, especially led by Rupert Murdoch-owned Fox News in the USA and executed brilliantly in India by Arnab Goswami (see discussion later in this chapter).
