Getting Acquainted With This Chapter

Student leadership in the classroom, extracurricular activities, and community-based organizations are invaluable educational opportunities. In addition, expanded leadership expertise will be required from students in their future occupations. Teachers sometimes resist student leadership in the learning process because of the established norm of the teacher as the provider of information. Transform Academy teachers courageously adapt as they become facilitators of learning instead of providers of knowledge. In this chapter, we illustrate what happens to the learning culture when student-led learning is prioritized and affirmed.
