I once read some wise words pointing out that if pupils learned everything that we taught, at the same pace, then there would be no need to assess them. How true this is! If teaching was simply a case of ensuring pupils were exposed to key concepts, both knowledge and skill based, and that they all assimilated these in a uniform way then the profession would be able to puts its feet up and stop working at weekends. ...
