If you are thinking that the rural high school’s profile on the following page does not seem that remarkable, that is what I thought as well. This school appears to be like many of the thousands of rural schools across the country—dwindling student population, some poverty, and many students not ready for college. However, when I described my research on leadership development, the Illinois State Superintendent of Schools told me, “You have to study this school.”
