Supply and overseas-trained teachers

This chapter looks at CPD and supply/temporary teachers, and issues around their induction, as well as the intricacies of helping those who trained overseas gain qualified teacher status in England and Wales. It starts by stating why supply teachers need CPD before presenting a case for meeting their training needs. It is argued that schools should be prepared to devote some of their limited CPD funds to temporary and overseas-trained teachers (OTTs), especially as the cost of employing temporary teachers is not insignificant.
