Introduction
Chapter 1 introduced the concept of new realities. New realities signal change, and change is challenging. Change creates anxiety. This chapter explains why organizations exist in continuous tension around a variety of existential anxieties that are ever present. Change, especially radical change, causes organizational anxiety to escalate. Organizational behavior and group dynamics reflect organization members' ability to deal with the distress caused by managing the various anxieties they experience.
