FE is Different
Working in the English Further Education (FE) sector is different from working in any other part of the education sector. You will encounter a diversity of individuals as students, so you could be teaching 14 year olds and adults over 65 years in the same week (although probably not in the same session). The breadth and depth of their experience, the range of capabilities they possess and their learning needs can at times be bewildering. On other occasions however this diversity is genuinely inspiring.
The range and choice of subjects offered by FE providers, from FE colleges to adult education centres, and from military training schools to prison education is also much wider than that available at secondary school or university. There are ...
