Social media is replacing face-to-face communication, which has its good and bad points. One downside of social media is user anonymity, particularly regarding race relations and cyberhate. People act on “keyboard courage,” or a purposeful expression of thoughts, feelings, and emotions online via social media that would not be communicated in face-to-face interaction, to convey racist thoughts without fear of consequences for their actions.
