The growing recourse to unilateral measures by the major powers poses one of the gravest challenges to contemporary multilateralism. Multilateralism's core principle of international cooperation is essential to create a supportive external environment for India's national priorities. The rapid transformation of India, driven by its ambitious socio-economic development programmes, is anchored by its international trade.
