How often has the following scenario occurred in your professional career: A new program (e.g., 1:1 initiative, new math program, differentiated instruction) is first introduced to your campus staff followed by intensive staff development (i.e., online, onsite, blended). The participating teachers rave about their staff development experiences and remark with enthusiasm how the new program will improve student achievement, elevate the level of teaching innovation, prepare students for a digital world, and/or improve the efficiency of their daily routines. As you and your colleagues visit classrooms “integrating” the new program a month later, you are bewildered by either a low fidelity of implementation or no implementation at all.
