Widespread sexual harassment in the public sector makes implementing sexual harassment policy a decidedly necessary task. In this book, the authors focus on the implementation of policy in public sector organizations using an analysis of case studies and survey data. The authors identify four major challenges to implementing sexual harassment policies and examine each starting with a description and concluding with specific recommendations for overcoming the challenges in policy making.

Summarizing the findings of a large piece of research such as this is always challenging. A delicate balance must be achieved between providing a sense of the breadth and depth of the findings and placing a particular focus on the most salient points in a cogent manner. The foregoing chapters have included analyses and findings on many complex and interesting issues related to sexual harassment policy, policy implementation, and the general environment in which the policy operates. Synthesizing this discussion into several key issues is difficult, and in the process some of the detail is unavoidably lost. However, the overarching analysis in Chapter 8 provides guidance toward making the very complex more clear.
