Post-Ideological Politics, or New Counter-Ideologies?
This concluding chapter seeks to pull the threads together and to focus on a number of general questions concerning the significance of political ideologies in the present state of world politics. These questions can best be presented in terms of various alternative ways of characterising ideological politics today. One perspective would be that we are living in a post-ideological society in which broad answers to questions of how society should be organised are no longer possible in the light of greater fragmentation of society in terms of the decline of cohesive agencies of political change.
