Definition: What is Progress Monitoring?
Progress monitoring is the routine assessment of student performance to determine whether the student is responding adequately to the instructional program. In an RTI framework, progress monitoring is conducted at all tiers of instruction. Progress monitoring provides information at the individual student level, the classroom level, and the school level. Based on the data provided by progress-monitoring measures, teachers can determine the efficacy of the overall program and determine individual student response to the instruction or intervention (Fuchs & Fuchs, 2006).
