There is a huge range of professional development opportunities – more than ever before – and one of the challenges for people who help develop teachers is to keep up to date with what's available. The DfES has developed an electronic portfolio for teachers called Keeping Track (see http://www.teachernet.gov.uk), which provides teachers with the opportunity to build and maintain an electronic professional portfolio (an e-portfolio) by:

  • showing teachers how to keep track of their own professional development;

  • enabling teachers to record milestones and achievements as a basis for reflecting on progress and further development needs;
