Why Staff Development Needs to be Strategic

Staff development has to meet a variety of needs: individual, team and organisational. There are also needs resulting from local and central government policy initiatives. Unsurprisingly sometimes there will be tensions between these various types of need within a school or college and decisions will need to be made about how they will be met. Staff development leaders have to ensure that any training and development will meet the needs of both individuals and organisational priorities. They need to ask:
