Early Intervention in Health and Well-Being

Early Intervention in Health and Well-Being

Chapter Overview

In this chapter we build on the discussion on macro factors that affect health and well-being by considering the notion of early intervention and its implications for young children’s health and well-being. It will consider the concept of early intervention, global perspectives on its process and the impact of early trauma. The chapter will also highlight some key early intervention initiatives that are attempting to foster health and well-being in the early years. Two key issues surrounding the promotion of health and well-being in practice are also explored – the importance of practitioner well-being and the significance of having a team around the child to support this work.
