When I started as an elementary counselor at Burnham/Anthony Mathematics and Science Academy in Chicago (K–8), I arrived to find that the previous counselor, who had been simultaneously working on getting a principal’s license, had so many roles and duties in the school that the school counseling program had been seriously neglected.
