Jagdish Sheth was born in Myanmar (then called Burma) in 1938. Jag's father had migrated from Western India to Myanmar to start a business as a rice merchant. In 1941, the family emigrated, in the wake of the Japanese invasion of Burma, back to India. Moving the time frame several years back, Jagdish Sheth received his early education in Chennai (then called Madras), where he also met his wife, Madhuri Shah (aka Madhu). Later, he received an MBA in 1962 and a PhD in 1966 from the University of Pittsburgh.
