Some of the best groups I’ve led are the ones that have gotten off to the rockiest starts. One of these immediately springs to mind. This was a group I led with one of my colleagues, Samantha (she preferred to be called Sam). We were working in a residential treatment facility for young adults with drug problems, and we had nine participants in our group—five men and four women—all in their late teens.
