CHILD:What is court and why am I here?

ADULT:Court is a special room where lots of people go to answer questions and tell the truth. All you do is talk.

CHILD:Where is this court? How will I find it?

ADULT: Court is inside a big building. Your mom, dad or grown-up friend will help you find it. This building is called the courthouse. Your court room is inside the courthouse.

CHILD:Why do I need to go to court?

ADULT: You need to go to court if you saw something, or heard something, or had something happen to you. A judge will want to hear what you have to say. Some special court people, called lawyers, will just ask you some questions. All you do is talk to ...
