Across the various examples in this book, we have looked at the arguments put forward by postcolonial theory and considered what geographies the colonial and post-colonial processes have generated. Postcolonial approaches have been incredibly influential in recent years, not only in the literary and cultural fields within which they first emerged, but also in disciplines across the social sciences and arts. As is the case for any approach that is influential, postcolonialism has come in for much critique.
