Developing and Deepening Formative Assessment Practice

In Chapter 7, we learned about the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that teachers need to become effective users of formative assessment. We also learned about ways in which teachers can develop this knowledge base, for example, working with colleagues to collaboratively develop learning progressions, anticipating student responses as part of departmental planning sessions, evaluating the quality of feedback, and so on. In this chapter, we are going to focus on specific structures and practices that can be established within a school to help teachers develop and deepen formative assessment in their classroom.
