In the same way as we saw in Scotland in the previous chapter, the Forestry Commission has played a leading role in developing Forest School in Wales, in particular for children aged 3–5 years. And again, as in Scotland, curriculum developments in Wales have also contributed to this. The relationship between the curriculum as developed by the Welsh Assembly Government and the Forest School as developed by the Forestry Commission is the central consideration of this chapter. The case study will illuminate how interagency working has led to developments in training which will shape this relationship in the next few years, and help Forest School to retain its identity and importance in the principality.
