The processes and mechanisms by which inequalities are produced and reproduced globally are serpentine and rapidly changing. The standard historical narrative that economic life left the household, leaving caring behind in a separate sphere of family, has moved to another stage. Thought to be separate spheres of work and family, of paid and unpaid work, a significant blurring is occurring. Work is more often unpaid. Caring is more often paid.
