In Part II, the discussion transitions from the foundational information, which defines everyday courage and fear and provides a rationale for why you need everyday courage, to specifically how you practice everyday courage. In Chapter 1, a contemporary definition of courage from researchers Rate, Clark, Lindsay, and Sternberg (as quoted in Pury & Lopez, 2010) was shared, which describes courage as

(a) willful, intentional act; (b) executed after mindful deliberation; (c) involving objective substantial risk to the actor; (d) primarily motivated to bring about a noble good or worthy purpose; (e) despite, perhaps, the presence of the emotion of fear.
