What is Coding?
Coding is a convention, or useful skill, used in a variety of ways in our society. ‘The capacity to associate signs or actions in an arbitrary way so that one can be used to represent the other underlies the process of coding and the conventional use of symbols’ (Waldon, 1980). There is not necessarily any logic in a code so, for example, in the case of traffic lights, it is agreed that red means stop and green go.
