This volume brings together some of the best writing published in the journal Management Learning since its re-launch under this title in 1994. The connections between religion and society have continued to be explored since Weber's fundamental work on capitalism and Protestant ethics. The influences of religion and theology on philosophy (e.g. Kołakowski, 1989a: 166); on social structure (Kołakowski, 1984); on economy (Boulding, 1989a, 1989b; Stein, 1989) and on organization of industrial society (Fromm, 1989) have long been topics for research and insight.
