True, it is a description and analysis of two empowerment evaluation contexts. But their unfolding paralleled and even precipitated a personal odyssey of empowerment. Not only do those connected with a specific program undergo a metamorphosis during an empowerment evaluation effort, the evaluator herself can experience illumination and liberation, becoming an advocate not only for program stakeholders but for the centrality and universality of continuous self-evaluation.
