Effective School Leadership raises many questions about effective leadership and how it is seen from different viewpoints. The issues are placed in political context and in relation to a changing world scene.




It is, I think, both unusual and generous that the researchers in a project such as this should give the last word to a practitioner. It is an opportunity I am delighted to have because, for me, the experience of being part of this research project has been the intensely rewarding one of being involved in a whole series of rich dialogues. There has been, for example, a dialogue between those outside school leadership looking in and those involved in school leadership looking out. There has also been a dialogue between those involved in school leadership in different countries and in different systems.
