The Foundation Stage Profile (FSP) was first introduced in 2003, as a single statutory summative assessment for the end of the then Foundation Stage, later the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ostensibly replacing the numerous ‘Baseline Assessments’ as a statutory summative record, though, as previously discussed, this altered the required timing of the assessment from the beginning to the end of the phase.
