Part of our work as practitioners involved with pupils with autistic spectrum disorders is to promote and sustain positive attitudes towards children with autism. We can achieve this by addressing the third level of impact on the child's learning; namely, attitudes arising from the child's behaviour. This level of impact presents us with opportunities for immediate gains. In this area we are largely dealing with issues of sharing knowledge and understanding, in winning hearts and minds.
