Chapter 9: Agenda Item 2: A Crash Course about Kids
Before developing a digital character education program, our school board members do their homework and identify a few more inputs to inform their thinking. Specifically, they are looking for information and insight about the following:
- Topic A: What's different about digital community? Board members need bullet points about what makes activity in digital community different than activity in RL community, so they can adapt character education to a world that is pervasively digital.
- Topic B: Moral development. In the backs of their minds, board members remember that kids develop moral consciousness in stages, starting at “me” and ending at “we.” A quick refresher would be helpful as they consider character education possibilities.
