Promoting change and its application outside the therapy session


This chapter describes some of the interventions that can be used to promote in-session changes and their application, outside the session, to the real-life context of the client. Strategies cover those that validate client change within the session as well as those that focus on planning, implementing and reviewing changes outside the session. The focus is on emotional and cognitive as well as behavioural changes. Examples are used to describe these interventions and strategies.
