Getting Centered

Your school is a collection of cultures. The adults at the school represent numerous cultures. Your students and their families represent various cultures, even when they appear to be homogeneous. When thinking of the term culture, most likely you think of race, ethnicity, gender, faith, socioeconomics, sexual orientation, and/or ableness. In reflecting on your school, what other cultural groupings come to mind?

Take a moment and think about any one or more of these student groups in terms of their academic performance. Which ones are considered high performing? Which are considered low performing?
