Critical Issues in Psychotherapy examines new and existing models in psychotherapy and presents them in an accessible manner to the practitioner in training through illustrative therapy cases and practitioner commentaries. Commentary: Managed Care Programs: What Do Clinicians Need?
To my chagrin, I worked inside a managed care program for 8 years. It began as an inpatient managed care program for one of its clients in 1985. Late that year, I was hired as a psychologist consultant to the process. I continued through early 1994. During this time, I spent a half day to a full day each week helping design processes and consulting on specific cases. The rest of the time I directed the Brief Therapy Center in Salt Lake City and saw private patients.
