This chapter reflects upon research conducted for my PhD thesis on women’s experiences of electronic monitoring. My study looks at women who have been convicted of an offence and have been given an electronically monitored curfew as a community order, either on its own or alongside other community requirements. At the time of writing, fieldwork has been completed and I am immersed in data analysis and ‘writing up’. The choice of topic draws upon my interest in female offenders in the criminal justice system which I developed during my MA studies in criminology.
