Photojournalists have a different challenge from text journalists. Words can be written away from the scene of the news, yet the photographer doesn't get a second chance at capturing in time the event that makes the headlines. Much of what a photographer does is being there at the right time. The news photographer must always be in the thick of the event. For example, more than two-thirds of those journalists killed during the Vietnam War were photographers or camera people (Moeller, 1996).
