The previous chapters have covered the theory and practice of multimodal stress counselling. In this final chapter, we cover the main organizational and occupational stressors that counsellors need to understand to enable them to help clients suffering from occupational stress. We also cover additional information that the ‘Compleat Stress Counsellor’ needs in order to run stress counselling groups and stress management workshops. We include sections on dealing with clients who do not complete self-help assignments and on relapse prevention. We finish this chapter by emphasizing the importance of self-care for the counsellor and thereby the prevention of counsellor ‘burn-out’.
