What is Cooperative Learning?

As stated in the Introduction, cooperative learning requires pupils to work together in small groups to support each other to improve their own learning and those of others. To work effectively certain key elements need to be in place. The following five elements are essential and these are known by the acronym ‘PIGS F’:

Positive interdependence

Individual accountability

Group processing

Small-Group and interpersonal Skills
