Evaluation and the Political Arena: The Politician
Evaluation and the political arena: The politician

An administrator must be able to negotiate a multitude of tasks to be an effective leader. While balancing the instructional program, personnel, budget, student needs, the school plant, and the community, to mention a few of his responsibilities, he must also be aware of and responsive to the demands and politics of the district. These demands focus on student achievement, which ties directly into his evaluation. As well, these pressures often result in high levels of stress, and so the need for him to balance priorities to reduce the likelihood of burnout is paramount. This principal discusses his leadership style and what factors were operating in his school during his tenure there.
