Integration
Integration as a concept of international relations (IR) is closely tied to the territorial differentiation of the international system. In the broadest sense of the term, it designates a process of altering or overcoming the boundaries of states, thus it falls in the “modes of transformation category” outlined in the introductory chapter to this volume.
