Two major themes of this chapter are executive intelligence and emotional intelligence. Executives may need a special type of intelligence; we explore this concept first. Furthermore, obviously emotional intelligence is a major determinant of competence in managing an organization and working together with a team. What might be specifically a relevant combination of characteristics that constitute emotional intelligence in workplace? This is discussed at some length. We suggest that both types of “intelligence” can be regarded as components of planning and executive functions (EFs).
