Each year, we experienced shootings in the community surrounding our school that affected our students tremendously. Most commonly, our students were the victims of shootings that resulted in injuries and even death. One of our students from the class of 2011 was killed, one student was tragically injured and left as a quadriplegic, and many others were shot but not permanently injured.
