Introduction
Authoritative teachers maintain and support a healthy learning community. Although teachers are a huge and diverse group, with different temperaments, teaching styles, and philosophies, almost all of them enter their profession because they want to make a difference to society, they relate well to children, and they love learning.
Secondary teaching is a very complex job. Whereas primary teachers are able to establish classroom atmosphere and routines very easily, secondary teachers are less able to do this because of the conditions under which they work. It is also harder for them to form sustainable relationships with their students because of the relative brevity of their contact.
