Rural Coalitions and Substance Abuse Prevention: A Case Study Approach
This chapter focuses on the development and functioning of 10 rural coalitions in the state of Georgia. The 10 coalitions were sponsored by the U.S. Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and constitute the primary basis for the discussion presented on rural coalitions. Consistent with the mission of the center, the coalitions' primary goal was the prevention of drug abuse among a specifically identified target group.
In the identification of resources for the development of this chapter, we compiled data from a group of coalitions that constituted a larger program called Project RECLAIM (Rural/Empowered Coalitions for Long-Range Approaches to Inside Management).
