One thing that seems certain is that change is a constant feature of life in schools. In this chapter you will begin to understand how and why this happens. We will explain the background to the National Curriculum in England and Wales, the Literacy and Numeracy Strategies at Key Stage 2, and the Key Stage 3 Strategy. We will also discuss some of the implications of the curriculum being organised centrally by government.
