We have looked at the feelings of apprehension teaching assistants will face in starting out in higher education, and challenges you may have to overcome in choosing to begin a course. Hopefully you also have a sense of the motivations that led students to come through these challenges, and the strategies they used to overcome them. For many of the teaching assistants we have talked to, this process has been as much about developing their confidence as expanding a knowledge or skill base (although these aspects are all linked).
